ANAT

Anat is a beautiful collection featuring pieces handcrafted by the talented women of Jabal el Hoss. This area is home to quaint villages where the unique 'beehive homes,' made of clay, stand as a testament to centuries of tradition.

In these villages, the women have developed their own unique style of embroidery, inspired by their colorful lives set against the earthy tones of their surroundings. While the homes blend seamlessly with the landscape, their embroidery bursts with vivid colors and scenes from daily life, woven with love and joy.

Heike Weber, the visionary behind Anat, met these incredible women and began a meaningful collaboration with them. Together, they worked to turn their intricate artwork into products, offering the women not only a source of income but also a way to express themselves and refine their artistry.

At Kankané, we were captivated by this narrative. Visiting the displaced women in their new village and the abandoned beehive homes, we were compelled to share their stories with the world.

KEEN DESIGN

Keen Design is a Beirut-based handmade studio founded by Kinana Roukbi in 2011. Inspired by a deep love for traditional crafts, the studio was born from a desire to collaborate with local artisans and breathe new life into age-old techniques.

At its heart, Keen Design is about preserving cultural heritage and empowering the talented craftsmen and women who carry it forward. By working closely with artisans who still practice time-honored methods, the studio helps keep these skills alive while creating meaningful economic opportunities.

Each piece blends tradition with a fresh, modern aesthetic. From intricate wood carving and delicate embroidery to silkscreen printing and refined metal craftsmanship, every technique tells a story — celebrating the artistry and history behind it.

At Kankané, we were captivated by Kinana’s designs that shape her studio’s distinctive style. Her sharp eye for detail beautifully merges precision with the warmth of handmade craft — resulting in timeless pieces rooted in heritage, yet designed for today. This thoughtful mix of old and new inspired us to share her creations with the world.
